Static Pinning for Non-Wovens
Surgical masks, which were once a simple strip of cloth, are now being manufactured using non-woven fabrics to help filter and protect. Layers of this non-woven material, typically made from plastic, are pinned together covering multiple filter layers. By charging, or pinning, the non-woven materials together, not only are better filtration results achieved but lines can now run at higher production speeds i.e., higher machinery efficiency.
Problem:
Need help creating the electret within the dielectric
Solution:
By mounting the Pinner T Bar approximately 20 mm over the grounded idler, one can take advantage of 5 mA of current from the VCM 30. Now both positive and negative outputs are available. This configuration provides economical and linear application of charge to the dielectric.
Problem:
How much charge is the dielectric holding? How impactful are process changes to charge held by dielectric?
Solution:
With the inclusion of the IQ Power Control Station and IQ Easy Sensor Bar, full web width charge monitoring is capable. Through the Control Station, the user can set and maintain line specific charge thresholds triggering alarms when the charge drops.
