(April 2013) As the use of thinner and wider optical films becomes more prevalent, Teknek has responded to customer demand by introducing a range of contact cleaning equipment which can effectively clean extra wide webs.

Simco – Ion, Teknek Americas- will be demonstrating these wide web machines in Booth #607 at the ICE show in Florida.

These multifunctional films are cleaned at the primary rewind and once again before they are coated or laminated.  Teknek’s equipment is used to remove contamination down to one micron in size from the web surface. Web widths of up to 3.5 metres can be cleaned using Teknek’s XCH6/200 range.

Ruaridh Nicolson, Teknek’s sales and marketing manager explained: “Films used in optical applications are becoming wider and thinner. The production lines are usually fast moving at up to 400 m per minute. The challenge has been how to clean these delicate materials at these speeds without damaging the film.”

He added: “The XCH range has been designed specifically for wide web applications and incorporates our market-leading Nanocleen core which offers cleaning without compromise. The core is complemented by our extra wide adhesive rolls which remove the contamination from the roller without any gaps.”
